TOMOKO KAKEDA

About Tomoko Kakeda

Tomoko Kakeda was born in Hiroshima, Japan in 1981. Kakeda mainly works with oil, watercolor and color pencils. Since Kakeda was enrolled in School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where she gained her BFA in 2008, she has been creating her self-portrait serieses. Kakeda has exhibited her works in several solo and group shows both in U.S. and Japan. Her recent solo exhibition was at Gallery G in Hiroshima city in August 2014.  Kakeda was also a member of Project NOW!, a collaborative art project in HIroshima, and has created many performance based art pieces to raise awareness about nuclear issues. 

 

１９８１年広島生まれ。主に油彩、水彩、色鉛筆を用いて制作する。２００８年に修士号を所得したボストン美術館大学に在学中から、自身の自画像シリーズに取り組んでいる。日本、米国両方で、個展、グループ展などで作品を発表している。最近では、２０１４年８月に広島市内のGallery Gに於いて個展を開く。また、２０１３年まで広島のアーティストグループ「Project NOW!」の中心メンバーとして活動し、核兵器に対する問題定義をする作品を数多く発表した。
